Introduction

My name is Morgan Harms, and I use the pronouns she/her. I enrolled in this course because it fulfills one of my course requirements for my endorsement in English Language Arts. I chose to take this specific course instead of another course that would fulfill my graduation requirement because I have previously taken women’s studies classes, and I really enjoyed having a safe environment to discuss the way in which gender affects our society and its members. I do not have any previous history with studying leadership theory, but I am excited to learn! My current understanding of leadership theory is that the attitude and approaches leaders of businesses, teams, families, etc. take directly affects how others will respond.

As you may be able to guess based on my major, I love literature, especially realistic fiction novels and British poetry from the Romantic Period. I write my own poetry, which is usually in free form, but I do not share it with many people because I mostly write for my own enjoyment.

  1. Hi Morgan!
I really love your glasses, mine are very similar. I didn’t know that this class could be used as an English credit, so that was really cool to learn. I am curious to know what your favorite poet is. I also write poetry. I used to publish it, but now I don’t anymore. Also, do you have a favorite topic for realistic fiction? I’ve always loved “coming-of-age” novels.

  2. Hi Morgan! I’m so excited for us to have another class together. I think having another Secondary Education Major in this class will let us learn more about how to transfer leadership theory into our classrooms.

I had no idea that you liked British poetry! Do you have a favorite poem?

  3. Hey Morgan!
Last semester I took a British literature surveillance course and we spent a good amount of time covering the Romantic Period—this was definitely some of my favorite poetry from the semester! Do you have any favorite poets from the era? I remember particularly enjoying Charlotte Smith’s “Beachy Head.” As for realistic fiction, who are some of your favorite authors? I’m in need of some new suggestions for the summer! Have a great rest of your week.

  4. Hi Morgan!

I’m excited to be working with you this semester. I also really enjoy the environment that the WGST classes have! I think it’s cool that you write your own poetry. It’s a wonderful art to create. Do you have any favorites or recommendations?

  5. Hello Morgan,
The safe place that the university provides is really helpful in discussing issues of gender and leadership! I too am unfamiliar with leadership theory, but the understanding that you described seems to be right on point. Poetry is a wonderful form of personal enjoyment, would you ever consider writing for others?

  6. Hi Morgan! I also had a similar experience with a Women’s and Gender Studies class! I took Gender Identity in Personal Writing and loved the environment and valued the discussion so much that it became my minor. Excited to have more discussions like it!
Also, if you want, email me your birthday, city and exact time, and I can send you your birth chart!

  7. Morgan, great to meet you! I LOVE your hair. I have always wanted to try a short cut!
I enjoy literature as well! What are some of your favorite books and/or poems? I agree that WGST classes really promote a safe space to share and grow together. It’s a wonderful thing to be able to have an intelligent discussion without people being rude and getting off topic. I look forward to being in class together!

  8. Hi Morgan! I also enjoy realistic fiction. Classes like these are amazing because I agree that they do provide a safe environment to discuss the things in society that everyone has a different opinion on. Excited to see what you write this summer!
